The Sun/Saturn midpoint is inhibitive. It is a point of tension and challenge between the Solar qualities (self-interest, vitality, sense of purpose) and the Saturnian themes of structure, limits, and discipline.
When the Sun/Saturn midpoint is activated by transit or progression, it can bring increased focus on issues related to responsibility. There may be a feeling of frustration and a sense that one is being “blocked” in some way. There can be difficulties with authority figures or one’s elders. It can bring a tendency toward pessimism and self-doubt. Self-expression and general vitality can likewise suffer at these times.
Activations of Sun/Saturn
Sun/Saturn= Sun: One’s ambitions as well as one’s elder male relatives are highlighted as a source of tension.
Sun/Saturn = Moon: Depression, loneliness, emotional inhibition and hurt feelings. Feelings of inferiority. Neglect of emotional needs. Separation from women, particularly the wife, mother, or other close female relatives.
Jk Rowling described 1990 as a “year of misery”. Her mother died at the end of this year, and her Progressed Moon passed over her Sun/Saturn close to this time
Type O Negative’s World Coming Down was in production at the time that Peter Steele’s Arc Moon progressed to this point. Probably the most melancholy and grievous of Type O Negative’s albums, Peter Steele joked that they should have called it “Poor Me”.
Sun/Saturn = Mercury: Having to make a serious decision. Receiving somber news. Depressing thoughts. Inhibition of speech. Keeping quiet. Keeping your thoughts to yourself. Being more disciplined with thoughts and speech.
David Icke has Sun/Saturn = Venus natally and it was triggered by Progressed Mercury conjunct to Sun/Saturn at the time of his 2nd divorce.
Beverly Allitt had progressed Mercury square to her Sun/Saturn when she received 13 life sentences
Sun/Saturn = Venus: A sense of duty in one’s love life. Feeling a responsibility to stay in a loveless or difficult partnership. General inhibitions in giving (or receiving) love. Can sometimes indicate a separation or breakup. Financial difficulties or restrictions.
The birth (and death) of Aleister Crowley’s daughter occurred in the year that Venus progressed to his Sun/Saturn midpoint.
Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis was married to JFK the year her Solar Arc Venus progressed to the Sun/Saturn midpoint.
Sun/Saturn = Mars: Frustration. Feeling that one’s actions are blocked, or that one’s activities are futile. Having to put in extra work.
Peter Steele started his music career with the formation of Fallout in 1979 when Mars progressed to this point. Anyone who has ever tried to start a band knows how frustrating that can be!
Sun/Saturn = Jupiter: Optimism in the face of difficulties. Looking for the benefits in a negative situation. Perseverance.
Sun/Saturn = Saturn: Having to be more mature and responsible due to a challenging or difficult life event.
Sun/Saturn = Uranus: This can indicate a tense time in a person’s life in which the unpredictability of events makes one nervous and/or emotionally unhinged. There can also be a struggle to assert one’s autonomy. In some instances, it can show a loss of freedom (such as imprisonment)
“Savannah” — the early ’90s adult film superstar — had Arc Uranus square to her Sun/Saturn midpoint in 1994, when she took her own life, rather suddenly. Her Wikipedia page essentially blames vanity for this tragic event. She had been in a car accident, broke her nose, had some other damage to her face, and then went and shot herself in her garage. While her suicide does seem like an impulsive, sudden decision (Uranus), I’m sure there were other things brewing besides just the fear of no longer being attractive
Sun/Saturn = Neptune: This may indicate a crisis of some sort, diminishing one’s energy and vitality. It can also lead to spiritual confusion and a loss of faith or hope.
Varg Vikernes had both Uranus and Neptune transiting this midpoint in August 1993 when he fatally stabbed Euronymous. He was arrested soon after and was sentenced to 21 years in prison. It is interesting to note that both Neptune and Uranus transited this point in ’92 during a period of church arsons to which Vikernes was linked.
Sun/Saturn = Pluto: Immense pressure and extreme suppression of an individual’s own will. There is a need to step into a role of responsibility due to a crisis situation. The threat of loss.
Sun/Saturn = Node: During this time, a person’s attention may be directed to a friend or family member who is experiencing some sort of hardship. The relationships one has with older people (perhaps a grandparent or elderly parent) may come into focus. Difficult meetings / difficulties with the public. Seclusion or feeling isolated
Jodi Arias has this natally
Sun/Saturn = Ascendant: Feeling isolated from others. General reserve and inhibitions. Suppression of the personality. Separation/divorce. A need to restructure one’s life and be more self-disciplined.
Sun/Saturn = MC: This is essentially the same as Sun/Saturn=Asc. It can bring either solitude or feelings of loneliness. Having to handle burdens all by oneself.
Sun/Saturn = Ceres: Anytime I see Ceres and Saturn together in a midpoint picture, the word that comes to mind is “grief”. Of course, more research is needed
Transit Ceres was on Wendy O Williams’ Sun/Saturn when she took her own life at the age of 48.
