Transit Venus square Vesta

Venus square Vesta is a time when we feel a lack of pleasure in our commitments.

Venus square Vesta

Vesta is known as “keeper of the flame” and represents service and devotion – in most interpretations. It can be devotion to a cause or higher principle. Devotion to career or family. Devotion to one’s studies…or devotion to another person.

Some might say that she represents unconditional love. Others (Magi astrologers) link her to “authentic friendship”.

I have seen her associated with containers or “vessels” – including “the home”. She has a link to fire and warmth, servitude, celibacy, purification, and traditions as well.

It might be useful to think of her as a MUCH gentler version of her father – Saturn.

A square between Vesta and Venus might show instances in which we feel torn between our responsibilities and the desire to be lazy and self-indulgent. We might not really enjoy the things (or relationships) we’ve devoted ourselves to at this time. Perhaps we’re questioning our decision to “hitch our wagon” to a certain cause, endeavor, or person. We might feel: “This is not enjoyable – and if it’s not enjoyable, it’s not worthwhile!”

In most cases, this won’t result in “jumping ship” – just a strong (and passing!) feeling of dissatisfaction.

We might feel tempted to loosen our restraints and indulge in the Venusian pleasures that we perhaps shouldn’t. Restraint and temperance are necessary at this time.
