I’ve noticed that Chris Rock has been getting a lot of “news stories” for his new Netflix special, and wanted to quickly look for indicators for publicity in his chart.
I’m using his rectified chart which places the Ascendant at 16 degrees Aries, and the MC at 10 degrees Capricorn.
Transit Venus and Jupiter were conjunct at 12 degrees Aries just a few days ago. Venus is now even closer to the Ascendant at 17 degrees.
Venus and Jupiter together are associated with popularity. In his chart, they are triggering the angles, blessing him with public approval.
Transit Pluto has been trine to his natal Mars, ruler of his Ascendant for the past year.
This is a transit that can make a person more focused, and determined to achieve their goals. It gives courage and confidence. With Mars being the Ascendant ruler, it can bestow power to a person. They become more of a leader and an example to others.
Pluto is transiting the 10th house – the house of public visibility.
Transit Uranus is in the first house (self) trine to his natal Pluto in the 6th. Uranus is simultaneously conjunct to natal Jupiter. In a previous post, I explored Jupiter-Pluto aspects and how they relate to wealth. The trine between Jupiter and Pluto is especially indicative of a high earning potential. This trine is being activated by transit Uranus.
Uranus is the “the unexpected”. When he was slapped, unexpectedly by Will Smith roughly a year ago, Transit Uranus was in an exact trine to his Natal Uranus.
Now Uranus has moved into a tighter orb of influence with his Jupiter-Pluto trine. For me, this is indicative of using something totally unexpected to one’s financial advantage.
Natal Uranus and Pluto are in the 6th house of work.
Natal Jupiter and Transit Uranus are in the 1st house of self.
From my understanding, some of what is in his Netflix special has to do with “the slap”
He was able to use something unexpected that happened to his physical body (first house /Uranus) to benefit his work (6th house).
Moving along – Transit Mars is conjunct to his Natal North Node, located in Gemini right on the 3rd house cusp.
The North Node is said to represent one’s Karma and where a person is supposed to focus their attention in this lifetime. It is also associated with society and the way a person fits into the group.
Gemini is most certainly a sign that can be associated with Comedians.
The 3rd house (often correlated with Gemini) is everything having to do with communication.
We could say that he is fulfilling his life purpose to bring a message to the masses. Transit Mars is the catalyst.
Another interesting thing to note, the transiting Sun has also activated his Uranus and Pluto as it is conjunct to natal Chiron.
Just using the keywords of Pluto and Chiron we can come away with the following sentence:
“Painful power dynamics”
Being slapped by Will Smith was a demonstration of Smith’s desire to assert dominance in an emasculating way since it was a slap rather than a punch. The Sun’s transit over Chris Rock’s Chiron essentially shines a light on this….and yet, due to his other transits, this special attention to a painful event has more of a beneficial effect than a “salt on wounds” effect. How he actually feels, we don’t really know. But as far as publicity goes, it certainly isn’t of the negative variety!
