While it’s difficult to ascertain what is going on in the relationships of the rich and famous, I couldn’t NOT give an example of how to use asteroid synastry once I compiled this list.
Now I’ll admit — I really haven’t done my homework on this topic. I have not conducted exhaustive studies to support the notion that these asteroids have ANY effect on human relationships. But it’s a fun thing to ponder and look into more deeply in the future.
The first (and so far the ONLY) celebrity friends I have looked at are Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg.
A cursory glance doesn’t reveal much in the way of asteroid synastry. We can observe a tight conjunction between her Sun and his South Node. We also see his more “gentle” planets, Venus and Moon, conjunct to her Ascendant. Her ASC is in Scorpio — His Descendant is in Scorpio. His Mars (traditional descendant ruler) is also very close to her IC (4th house cusp) — so we can see some affinity just looking at the basic elements of their synastry.
If we open up the chart, and look at the comparison tables, we can see some asteroid connections a little easier.
We’ve established that Venus and Mars are VIPs (Very important planets!) in both of their charts. Mars rules his DSC/Her ASC. Venus rules his ASC/Her DSC.
The Ascendant/Descendant axis will tell us a lot about how a person relates to other people, so we want to look foremost at what the rulers of this axis are doing when we look at a synastry chart,
We do see some activity between these planets and the “friendship” asteroids. BUT– it doesn’t convince me of the efficacy of the asteroids for a couple reasons:
- I don’t know the finer details of the relationship between Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg. To describe this aspect or that between his planets and her asteroids would be purely speculative.
- Their chart is the only one I’ve looked at for these asteroids (besides my own personal friendship charts).
- I am of the belief that the basic elements of the natal chart will give you the information you need for an assessment, When you go digging for asteroids it’s like you’re searching for confirmation of compatibility — even though the rest of the chart is saying “it’s just not there”
So why even provide this information? Well — for curiosity’s sake! I know that there are a lot of people who are interested in both synastry and asteroid astrology. There’s a hunger for information on asteroids in particular because there isn’t a rich history of using them. They are a fairly new device in the astrologer’s toolbox — and can sometimes yield interesting results.
Case in point — “Name asteroids”. These are particularly interesting to me. I have seen them show up prominently in synastry charts several times.
A “Name Asteroid” is one that resembles the name of the person you’re drawing a chart for. You can use their first name. You may also use their middle, last name, or a nickname — if such a name is available in the asteroid database.
If we place asteroid “Martha” (205) in Snoop Dogg’s chart, we see it prominently displayed. It is conjunct to his 11th house Mars. And Mars is his Descendant Ruler (or the ruler of his relationships)!
Funnily enough he has Mars/Martha in the sign of Aquarius. A so-called “oddball” sign — for an “odd couple” friendship!
